Frequently Asked Questions

Both are wallets which provide users with the option to create or log in to their GNY Mainnet accounts. The obvious advantage of the GNY Mobile Wallet is its ease of use and accessibility on-the-go. The Desktop Wallet is currently the only wallet which contains an in-wallet swapgate and delegate registration function.

It is possible that your device type or the version of the operating system that it is running is not supported or is excluded by the app. Please review your device’s compatibility and update its operating system (Android/iOS) to ensure it is compatible with the GNY mobile wallet.

You may use the wallet to store GNY Mainnet tokens or tokens you have created using the wallet’s in-built “Create Tokens” function. Please note: Neither the GNY Mobile wallet or the GNY desktop wallet can be used to store GNY ERC-20 or GNY BEP-20 tokens.

You are not required to own any GNY tokens to carry out any of these actions.

The GNY passphrase is a series of twelve words, each separated by a single space. Think of it like a password, only more secure. Each GNY account is allocated a unique randomly generated passphrase.

  • Open the GNY Mobile Wallet on your device.
  • Click the “New Account” button. The passphrase input box will populate with a newly generated twelve-word passphrase. IMPORTANT: Please take note of your passphrase in a secure location offline as it cannot be retrieved or reset after this point. Ensure that the passphrase you have taken note of is complete with all 12 words. Future logins and functions within the GNY Mobile Wallet will require you to input this passphrase.
  • Click the “I accept the Terms of Use” box.
  • Click the “Login” button to log in for the first time with the new passphrase. You will then be greeted by the “Home / Welcome” screen.

Biometric login provides a convenient method for authorizing access to your GNY account via the GNY Mobile Wallet. Instead of having to input your twelve-word passphrase every time you open your app, you can instead use your biometric credentials (fingerprint or facial recognition) to authorize access to the account.

Please note: Where a second password has been added to your account the biometric login only authorizes functions that were originally permissible via the entry of the initial twelve-word passphrase.

A second passphrase is an optional extra that allows an account holder to increase their account security through the addition of a secondary twelve-word passphrase. Once a second passphrase is created it will be required to be provided IN ADDITION to the original twelve-word passphrase to allow a user access their account, and use the mobile wallet’s major functions. The blockchain fee to create a second passphrase is 5 GNY.

  • To add a second passphrase you begin by clicking the user profile image button in top right of the “Home / Welcome” screen.
  • On the next screen click on the “Add Second Passphrase” button in the middle of the screen.
  • On the next screen click on the “Generate Passphrase” button located in the middle of the screen. The second passphrase box will populate with a randomly generated 12 word passphrase. IMPORTANT: Please take note of your second passphrase in a secure location offline as it cannot be retrieved or reset after this point. Ensure the passphrase you have taken note of is complete with all twelve words. Future logins and functions within the GNY Mobile Wallet will require you to input this passphrase.
  • Finally, click the “Confirm” button at the base of the screen to complete the 2nd passphrase creation.

If you have forgotten your unique passphrase/s and do not have it/them recorded anywhere then you will not be able to access your GNY account. It is impossible for you, the GNY team, or anyone else to log into your account without your passphrase/s. It is also not possible to reset a forgotten password. PLEASE SAVE YOUR PASSPHRASES IN A SECURE LOCATION.

  • Never save your GNY passphrase online. It should be saved in a secure location offline.
  • Never tell anyone your GNY passphrase or post it to any channel.
  • Consider the addition of a second passphrase to your account.
  • Never use your GNY Mobile Wallet on a shared device.
  • When logging into your wallet or initiating transactions, use only a secure internet connection and avoid public Wi-Fi networks.
  • Run anti-malware and anti-virus programs regularly to check for key-logging software or spyware.
  • Ensure your operating system is updated to the latest stable version of its software.
  • Be very wary if someone offers to install remote screen viewing software on your device for whatever reason.
  • For security purposes, the GNY Mobile Wallet has an automatic timed logout feature built in. However, you do not have to wait around for this to trigger when you finish your session with the wallet; instead you can take the step of logging out of your GNY Wallet manually. To do so, click the user profile image button in top right of the “Home / Welcome” screen and click the “Logout” button located at the base of the subsequent screen.

A public address, also known as a public key is a cryptographic code composed of numbers, plus uppercase and lowercase letters. It is the unique identifier or address of your GNY account, and it is safe to share with others. You will find your account’s public address listed on the Mobile Wallet’s “Home / Welcome” screen, labeled as “Address” within the “Account Information” window. GNY account addresses (public addresses) always contain 28-29 characters and begin with an uppercase letter G.

IMPORTANT: When sending or receiving tokens via the GNY Mobile Wallet please confirm between yourself and the other party that what you are sharing is a genuine GNY account address and that it is the correct one linked to the relevant account. It is not possible to reverse funds sent to incorrect addresses.

To receive GNY tokens you must provide your public GNY address to the party who wishes to send the tokens to you. You may copy it from the “Account Information” window on the “Welcome“ screen of the mobile app. There is no blockchain fee applicable if you are the receiver of funds.

If you wish to transfer GNY tokens you must have in your possession the public GNY address of the party you wish to send funds to. Before you begin the transfer process please confirm with the other party that it is a genuine GNY account address, and that it is the correct one linked to their account. The blockchain fee to transfer funds is 0.1 GNY.

  • Begin by clicking the “Transfer” button located at the bottom of the “Welcome” screen.
  • The “Transfer” screen will then appear and display the total amount of tokens available to you.
  • In the top right-hand corner of the “Transfer” screen click the + button to begin a new transfer.
  • The “New Transfer” screen will appear with a series of fields to be filled out.
  • In the “To” field you should the GNY address of the account you wish to send tokens to. Before you begin the transfer process please confirm with the other party that it is a genuine GNY account address and that it is the correct one linked to their account. It is not possible to reverse funds sent to incorrect addresses.
  • The “Amount” field allows you to enter the number of tokens you wish to transfer.
  • Within the “Message” field you may add a message to the recipient if you wish. The message can contain a maximum of 120 characters. For the purposes of security, your message can contain numbers, uppercase, and lowercase letters, but it cannot contain punctuation marks (for example periods, commas) or special characters (for example dollar signs, asterisks).
  • With the fields filled out to your satisfaction, you can now click “Send”.

Please note: Account holders who have activated a second passphrase will be prompted to enter it before they are allowed to click “Send”.

A username is community facing and will be used to identify you during the delegate voting process and in transaction history. The blockchain fee to create a username is 5 GNY. Usernames cannot be changed once created.

  • To begin, click the user profile image button in the top right of the “Home / Welcome” screen.
  • On the next screen click the “Create Username” button located on the left-hand side of the screen.
  • On the next screen enter your preferred username. Your username can contain a maximum of 20 characters. For the purposes of security, your username can contain only numbers and lowercase letters. It cannot contain punctuation marks (for example periods, commas), special characters (for example dollar signs, asterisks) or spaces. If you wish to introduce a form of space between words you may use an underscore (for example _ ).
  • Finally, click the “Confirm” button at the base of the screen to complete your username creation.

Please note: Account holders who have activated a second passphrase will be prompted to enter it before they are allowed to click “Confirm”.

The GNY blockchain employs a delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS) consensus algorithm with 101 nodes securing the network and processing the transactions within it. These nodes are decentralised and are hosted & maintained by individual delegates. GNY token holders have the ability to vote for 101 delegates that will secure the network on their behalf. GNY token holders must lock tokens to allow them to vote for delegates (see “What is the lock tokens function” further down this page).

As an elected delegate, you will become a supporter of the world’s first decentralized machine learning predictive platform and have the opportunity to deliver the benefits of blockchain technology to the world. While operating a GNY node you will be rewarded in two ways for securing the GNY blockchain and processing the transactions on it.

  1. All transaction fees on the GNY blockchain return to the operators of the nodes. For example, every time a wallet holder sends some GNY tokens to a GNY account, one of the 101 delegates forges the block which includes that transaction and sends it through the network. The forging delegate gains the fee associated with the transaction. A full list of all the transaction fees is included further down this page.
  2. Besides the fees, block forging rewards are also gained. The block reward is 2 GNY per block for the first year following mainnet launch; with each forging delegate receiving 62488 GNY (yearly). Block reward reduces at a rate of 0.5 GNY per year until it hits a permanent 0.5 GNY floor.

Prospective mainnet delegates are required to lock 187500 GNY tokens and show a track record of successful forging on the GNY testnet (sandbox version of the GNY Mainnet). There is no required amount of GNY tokens to be held for anyone to initially run a GNY testnet node.

If you are interested in becoming an elected delegate, please join GNY’s Network Discussion telegram channel and express your interest in setting up a GNY testnet node.

The GNY team has put in place documentation, video tutorials, and a dedicated tech support team to aid prospective delegates with node establishment on the network.

Locking your tokens has two purposes:

  1. You must lock tokens to allow you to vote for delegates. Whatever quantity of tokens you lock allows you to apply the weight of those tokens to your voting power when voting for delegates. The more tokens you lock the more your votes are worth.
  2. If you are in a fortunate enough position to be in possession of 187500 GNY tokens then you have the option to lock those up to signify your wish to become a GNY blockchain delegate and node operator.
  • To lock tokens, you begin by clicking the user profile image button in top right of the “Home / Welcome” screen.
  • On the next screen click on the button labeled “Lock status”.
  • On the next screen, and within the field labeled “Unlock Height”, you should enter the block height you wish for the tokens to lock until. Please note: You are required to lock to a block height that is at a minimum 10 blocks higher than the current block height. Be advised that locking to a very high block height will mean that your tokens cannot be unlocked until that block height is reached, and as such your tokens will not be available for transfer until that height is reached.
  • In the second field labeled “Amount”, please enter the amount of tokens you wish to lock. Then click the “Lock” button to complete the token lock.
Please note: Account holders who have activated a second passphrase will be prompted to enter it before they are allowed to click “Lock”.

You can return to lock additional tokens or unlock your tokens at any time in the future. In these situations the button that was initially labeled “Lock status” will now be labeled “Change Lock Status”, and clicking it will reveal a screen with “Increase Lock Amount” and “Unlock” button options.

The blockchain fee to lock tokens is 0.1 GNY. There is no blockchain fee applicable when you unlock tokens.

  • Begin by clicking the “Delegates” button located at the bottom of the “Welcome” screen.
  • The “Delegates” screen will then appear and display a list of individual delegates available.
  • Further information on each delegate can be accessed by clicking the dash symbol at the base of each delegate’s window. Further information such as a delegate’s productivity, approval rating, and quantity of missed blocks will give you insight into how worthy they are of your vote.

If you attempt to vote without any locked tokens you will be prompted by a drop down to “Lock your account to vote”. For further information on this see the reply to the “What is the lock tokens function” question further up this page.

  • With locked tokens you may vote for any number of delegates up to a maximum of 101. You can do this in two ways…
    1. Select delegates manually up from 1 individual up to a total of 101 delegates by ticking the checkbox on the right-hand side of each delegate you favor.
    2. You can select the top 101 delegates in one action by clicking the “Select top 101 Delegates” button at the top of the screen.
  • When satisfied with your selection you can click the “Confirm Vote” button located at the base of the screen to lock in your votes. The blockchain fee to vote for up to 33 delegates is 0.1 GNY. Voting for all 101 delegates costs 0.4 GNY.
  • Begin by clicking the “Votes” button located at the bottom of the “Welcome” screen.
  • The “My Votes” screen will then appear and display a list of individual delegates you have voted for.
  • You can unvote in two ways…
    1. Select delegates manually up from 1 individual up to a total of 101 delegates by ticking the checkbox on the right-hand side of each delegate you favor.
    2. You can select all 101 delegates in one action by clicking the “Unvote All Delegates” button at the top of the screen.
  • When satisfied with your selection you can click the “Confirm Unvote” button located at the base of the screen to lock in your unvotes. The blockchain fee to unvote for up to 33 delegates is 0.1 GNY. Unvoting all 101 delegates costs 0.4 GNY.

The GNY Mobile Wallet allows account holders to quickly and easily create their own personal tokens without any need for blockchain coding skills.
